Below is a list of equipment that Terry used throughout all of the tutorials.
For most of the paintings Terry used Bockingford 140lb / 300gm Rough surface paper. The paper size for all of the projects is: imperial, 11ins x 15ins
Use the best quality paint you can afford, it’s well worth paying the extra for Artists’ quality. Terry used Daler Rowney 15ml tube paints.
Here is a list of the colours Terry uses in the tutorials.
Permanent Wild Rose
Terry's palette has a clip on the lid that helps keep the paint from drying out and 3 separate mixing areas to keep the colours fresh.
This is used to mask off detail you want to retain white. You will need an old brush to apply the masking fluid.
A 2B pencil is the best for sketching and drawing.
Masking tape is used to fix the paper to the drawing board.
Terry has designed his own range of brushes, made to make painting easy. These brushes are used throughout the tutorials. A full description and how to use them can be found in the techniques tutorials and can be purchased here on Terry's store website.
When you make your first tutorial purchase you will create an online members account. All subsequent tutorial purchases will be added to your online account.
You can login and view your tutorials by clicking the button in the top right of every page, or by clicking "My Account" in the footer menu at the bottom of the page. Enter your user details to be taken straight to your tutorials.
This is not a feature we currently offer. Your online account available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and is available to view on your computer, tablet or even your phone, meaning you can watch your purchased tutorials and projects at any time.
The downloads for the drawings are a PDF file and can be made to your own size once you've downloaded it.
The file comes saved as a large enough file for you to either print yourself in parts and make it as large as you want, or you can take the file to a local printer and they can print it for you at any size you like.
There is also a free tutorial on the site where Terry explains how you can use the download drawing and transfer it to your watercolour paper.
People worry about copyright issues. As far as we are concerned, Terry created these tutorial projects in order that you have a go at them. If you achieve pictures that you are happy with, then sign them as your own, frame them and exhibit them, then Terry would be delighted.
If you intend to sell them it is polite to sign after, under or near your own signature "after Terry Harrison" or 'inspired by Terry Harrison' If you like any Terry's paintings and fancy 'having a go', please do. As soon as you sign a 'copied work' as your own it is always polite to acknowledge the original artist, otherwise you may be accused of "passing off" as someone else. All artists get ideas from the world around us, but to specifically copy another artists work should be acknowledged, all be it in a small way.
Enjoy your painting, we do hope Terry's work encourages you.
Our video player automatically adapts to the speed of your internet and adjust the video quality to suit, this is designed to reduce the time it takes for videos to load and prevent them from stopping during playback.
However if you experience slow video streaming you can override this to reduce the videoquality and make the videos stream faster without stopping.
To do this click on the HDbutton in the bottom right of the video player to bring up the quality settings. By default it will be on auto however you can choose a lower quality version which should resolve the stopping issue.
